London 5 February 2016. Electric Ray has secured a prime time commission from ITV for The Inspectors are Coming, a brand new series which follows law enforcement teams up and down the country as they battle with misbehaving Britain.
The six part series follows the day to day challenges of council enforcement officers from across the UK – from hostile negotiations between noisy neighbours, and secret stake-outs to catch anyone littering, to arguments over whose dog pooped on the pavement.
No crime is too small for this army of inspectors whose mission it is to keep Britain’s streets clean and tidy. But with on-the-spot fines of up to £300, they’re not always warmly welcomed by locals.
The series was commissioned for ITV by Andrew O’Connell, Factual Commissioning Editor and Richard Klein, Director of Factual and will air soon on ITV. It will be executive produced by Sophie Leonard with Anouk Curry series producing.
Andrew said: “Whether you see the crews of council officers that enforce a whole range of laws affecting our communities as heroes or villains, this new series will give you a colourful insight into the characters and culture behind the high-vis uniforms we’re all so familiar with.”
Karl Warner said: “We hope ITV audiences will take to this likeable group of passionate and professional law enforcement officers, regardless of whether they agree or not with the powers they’ve been given to fine.”
Electric Ray is a joint venture with Sony Pictures Television.
