SONY AND OCS STRIKE MAJOR MULTI-YEAR DEAL IN FRANCE

OCS picks up exclusive premiere rights for Powers, Transparent and box office hits

London, Tuesday 3 March 2015 – Sony Pictures Television (SPT) and OCS have agreed a major multi-year volume deal giving the French pay TV operator exclusive access to a wide range of box office hits and award-winning TV series.

Subscribers to OCS, which is majority owned by Orange, will have access to exclusive first-run rights to all of SPT’s new feature films including Elysium, White House Down, Captain Phillips and Equalizer, as well as upcoming film Chappie and, in 2016, Robert Zememkis’ highly anticipated film The Walk. The deal also covers double Golden Globe-winning comedy series Transparent and hit comedy-drama series Mozart in the Jungle.

In addition, OCS has picked up the exclusive premiere rights to the SPT-produced superpower crime drama Powers. The innovative comic book adaptation, which is the first PlayStation®Originals series, will be available in France on March 10th 2015 – the global release date of the hotly anticipated 10-part series.

Mike Wald, Executive Vice President, International Distribution for Sony Pictures Television said: “This new partnership with OCS secures significant distribution of our world class film and TV content in one of our most important markets. We hope to expand this partnership to even greater levels in the near future.”

Serge Laroye, President of OCS and Executive Vice President, Content Direction at Orange, said: “This agreement with Sony Pictures Television adds significantly and qualitatively to the content for our 100% cinema and TV series offer and confirms our position as a premium service – it is exactly the kind of content our subscribers love. The partnership is also a reflection of both parties’ continued commitment to cinema.”

Since its launch in 2008, OCS has consistently backed the film industry from production through to distribution. Notably, in 2013, OCS boosted its engagement with French and European cinema with a commitment to invest 179 million Euros over 5 years.
