London, UK. Wednesday 7 January 2015 — Mark Young has been named senior vice president of distribution, UK, Africa and Ireland for Sony Pictures Television (SPT), it was announced today.

Based in London, Young is responsible for managing and growing all SPT distribution activity across these territories and reports to Mike Wald, executive vice president, international distribution.

Young leads all film and television licensing negotiations for Sony Pictures Television across all broadcasters and digital platforms, working closely with Sony Pictures Home Entertainment across online, VOD and the growing SVOD market.

“Mark has 20 years' experience in the TV industry with an impressive track record of growing our sales and distribution business in a number of territories around the world,” Mike Wald said. “He is returning to the European team to lead our distribution activity in these priority markets at an incredibly exciting time for the business.”

Previously, Young served as senior vice president of distribution, Australia and New Zealand for SPT. During his three year tenure based in Sydney, Young was responsible for the distribution of SPT feature films and TV content to all media including on-demand, pay TV and free linear TV platforms.

Prior to that, Young served as vice president, distribution, for SPT where he increased sales across Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Israel, Greece, Cyprus and Turkey. Before joining SPT, Young held positions with ChelloMedia Enterprises (commercial sales director, central and eastern Europe), British Sky Broadcasting (head of account management) and Granada Sky Broadcasting (marketing executive).
