MILLIONAIRE BOOSTS GLOBAL REACH WITH NEW DEALS


Greece jumps into Hot Seat with 180 episode order  
Turkey renews Millionaire for further 114 episodes 
 
London, 19 September 2014. Sony Pictures Television’s (SPT) hit quiz format continues to find new audiences around the world with sales of the Hot Seat spin-off in Greece and original format Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? being renewed by broadcasters in Romania and Turkey, while securing its first ever deal in Kyrgyzstan, proving the show’s perennial popularity.
 
Greek broadcaster and producer, Skai TV, has licensed an initial order of 180 episodes of Hot Seat scheduled to air in October. The Millionaire spin-off series has proved popular internationally, generating ratings success in several territories including Denmark, where Hot Seat was recently ranked number 1 in its timeslot on TV2. Hot Seat also celebrated its 1000th episode on Channel Nine in Australia earlier this year - the show’s highest rated episode since July 2013.
 
The original format, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, continues to attract attention in new territories including Kyrgyzstan, where the Public Broadcasting Company of the Kyrgyz Republic has confirmed a deal to remake 42x60’ episodes of the classic show, marking SPT’s first Millionaire deal in the territory. The series will be produced by Magic Studio Limited, with filming set to begin in late October.

In Turkey, broadcaster and production company ATV have renewed the popular quiz show for a further 114 episodes. Currently in its 22nd series, the renewal takes the long running show through to series 30. Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? has also been renewed by  broadcaster Prima in Romania where local producer Zucchero is in production on 36 episodes of the third series. 
 
There are currently 83 different language versions of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? and the show has been broadcast in 120 territories around the world including Kazakhstan, Israel, Ivory Coast, Uganda, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. The Millionaire brand has also gained traction as a highly popular app featuring over 1,000 questions and testing knowledge and speed with all the excitement of the hit TV show.
