STELLIFY MEDIA WINS FIRST COMMISSION WITH NEW DATING SHOW
London 27 August 2014. Stellify Media, the Belfast-based joint venture with Sony Pictures Television (SPT), has secured its first major commission producing Blind Date (w/t) for national Irish broadcaster TV3.
Presented by Lucy Kennedy (The Ex Files, The Podge & Rodge Show), the new 8x60 series will be a fresh, bold and contemporary adaptation of Sony Pictures Television’s hit dating format The Dating Game. It will be produced by Stellify Media and 3Studios and air on TV3 later this year.
Blind Date (w/t) offers lovelorn singletons the chance to meet their soul mate through a series of probing questions and daring challenges– all while separated by a wall. The optimistic dater has to choose which of the three contestants he or she wants to go on a date with based only on their answers, persuasive antics and the audience’s reaction.
The hopeful couple is then treated to their very own “holi-date” – a treat which could range from a fishing boat in rainy Dingle to the sun-kissed white sandy beaches of the Algarve. Viewers are treated to the highs, lows and outright dating disasters when the couple returns to the show the following week to tell all.
Executive producer and Stellify joint managing director, Kieran Doherty, said: “Securing our first commission just five months after launching Stellify Media is fantastic. Blind Date (w/t) is exactly the type of entertainment programming we want to produce - a compelling mix of humour, love and jeopardy - making it unmissable viewing for the whole family.”
Head of Development & Formats and Executive Producer for TV3 / 3studios, Andrew Byrne, said: "We are delighted to team up with Stellify Media on this exciting new production. We have been working on a number of new dating formats as part of our continued development of 3studios and when we were approached with The Dating Game format, it was simply too hard to resist! For us is the ultimate global dating show and one that we can bring a unique Irish flavour to.”
Based in Northern Ireland, Stellify Media was launched earlier this year by leading media execs Kieran Doherty and Matt Worthy as a joint venture with Sony Pictures Television. Kieran Doherty and Matt Worthy’s previous credits include the international quiz format Secret Fortune (BBC One) and the reality game show format Take the Money and Run (ABC US). They also developed a number of original popular entertainment series and game shows including Dara O Briain's School of Hard Sums (DAVE) and the magic and mentalism series David Meade: Make Believe (BBC One NI). Most recently, they developed quiz pilots You Against The Nation for BBC One and Divide & Conquer for Channel 4.
