SPT AND M-NET CONFIRM NEW CONTENT DEAL FOR AFRICA

London, 7  November 2013. Sony Pictures Television (SPT) and M-Net have today announced a new distribution deal in Africa for television content.

An exclusive package deal for new and returning television series has been closed with sub Saharan platform M-net for its pay tv channels. The deal includes SPT’s new season dramas The Blacklist, Masters of Sex and mid season titles Rake and The Night Shift. The deal also includes new comedies such as The Goldbergs, The Michael J Fox Show, mid season title Bad Teacher, as well as SPT’s newest talkshow The Queen Latifah Show. Also included are all of SPT’s current series, such as Breaking Bad, Community, Justified and Drop Dead Diva.

M-Net Director of Group Content Services, Jan du Plessis, adds that this deal confirms M-Net’s commitment to bringing the very best international television programming  to its audiences across the African continent. “The current SPT series on M-Net’s channels are well loved by our viewers and we are thrilled to add more exciting new SPT shows to our mix of top-notch content.”

Full season orders have now been confirmed by NBC for The Blacklist and ABC for The Goldbergs, while a second season of Masters of Sex and a sixth season of Drop Dead Diva were greenlit last month. The Blacklist, starring James Spader, broke US DVR ratings records by exceeding five million for the first time and has won its US timeslot every week so far.
