SONY PICTURES TELEVISION NETWORKS BRINGS THE BLACKLIST TO VIEWERS IN 66 COUNTRIES AROUND THE GLOBE

Highly-Anticipated New Drama To Air on AXN in Asia and Poland, as well as SET in Latin America & Brazil, and Russia & CIS

CULVER CITY, CA (12 September, 2013) — Sony Pictures Television (SPT) today announced that its global networks will premiere the highly-anticipated drama “The Blacklist” in 66 countries spanning four continents. The suspense thriller starring multiple Emmy-winning actor James Spader will be available in 11 languages to more than 100 million SPT Networks viewers worldwide, airing across Asia and Poland on AXN, and on Sony Entertainment Television (SET) across Latin America and Brazil, as well as Russia & CIS.

“SPT’s global networks group strives to deliver the hottest U.S. series, so we naturally pursued the most buzzed-about show at this year’s LA Screenings,” says Marie Jacobson, executive vice president, programming and production for SPT Networks. “From its stellar cast to the great twists and turns, ‘The Blacklist’ is the perfect event-driven TV series to punctuate our networks’ prime time lineups.”

“The Blacklist” follows former U.S. government agent Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader), who for decades has been one of the FBI’s Most Wanted fugitives. Brokering shadowy deals for criminals across the globe, Red was known by many as “The Concierge of Crime.” Now, he’s mysteriously surrendered to the FBI with an explosive offer -- he will help catch a long-thought-dead terrorist, Ranko Zamani, under the condition that he speaks only to Elizabeth “Liz” Keen (Megan Boone), an FBI profiler with little experience. For Liz, it’s going to be one hell of a first day on the job. What follows is a twisting series of events as the race to stop a terrorist begins. What are Red’s true intentions? Why has he chosen Liz, a woman with whom he seemingly has no connection? Does Liz have secrets of her own? Zamani is only the first of many on a list that Red has compiled over the years: a “blacklist” of politicians, mobsters, spies and international terrorists. He will help catch them all…with the caveat that Liz continues to work as his partner. Red will teach Liz to think like a criminal and “see the bigger picture”… whether she wants to or not. Also starring are Diego Klattenhoff, Harry Lennix, Ryan Eggold and Ilfenesh Hadera.

Jon Bokenkamp (“The Call,” “Taking Lives”), John Eisendrath (“Alias”), John Davis (“Predator,” "I, Robot," "Chronicle") and John Fox serve as executive producers. “The Blacklist” is produced by Davis Entertainment Company in association with Sony Pictures Television.

“The Blacklist” joins other hot-from-the-U.S. series airing on SPT Networks across the globe, including “Breaking Bad,” “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Scandal,” “CSI,” “NCIS” and “The Voice.” SPT Networks’ original commissions include the critically-acclaimed “Hannibal” and “Crossing Lines,” both of which have been picked up for second seasons.
