SONY PICTURES TELEVISION PROMOTES ANGEL ORENGO, EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, DISTRIBUTION, ASIA-PACIFIC


James Farrell named senior vice president, distribution, Japan; Mark Young upped to senior vice president, distribution, Australia and New Zealand

LOS ANGELES, Calif., (Oct. 18, 2012) Sony Pictures Television (SPT) today announced three senior executive moves within its distribution business across Asia-Pacific. Angel Orengo has been promoted to executive vice president, distribution, Asia-Pacific, with oversight of SPT's sales efforts across the entire region. In addition, James Farrell has a new role and territory and will now serve as senior vice president, distribution, Japan, and Mark Young has been upped to senior vice president, distribution, Australia and New Zealand. The announcement was made by Keith LeGoy, president, international distribution, SPT, to whom Orengo reports.  

In his role, Orengo will oversee the distribution of SPT's vast catalog of programming and formats to free TV broadcasters, basic cable channels, pay TV platforms and new media clients across Asia-Pacific. Based in Hong Kong, Orengo will continue to lead in-country sales teams in Hong Kong, Sydney, Mumbai, Beijing, Seoul and Tokyo.


Farrell has relocated from Toronto to Tokyo for his new role. He will be responsible for leading all sales functions across multiple distribution platforms including free, pay, digital, online and mobile, in addition to managing format sales in Japan. Based in Sydney, Young, like Farrell, manages all sales of SPT content and SPT-owned formats to networks and other partners, but for the Australia and New Zealand markets. 

Previously, Orengo served as senior vice president, distribution, Asia-Pacific. He joined SPT in 1998, and since has served in various advertising and content sales capacities. Prior to SPT, Orengo was an international advertising sales executive for CBS Telenoticias in Miami and an account executive for La Agencia de Orci & Asociados in Los Angeles. He began his career with Telemundo Network, New York in 1992 as a research manager in Los Angeles where he served on both the marketing and network sales teams. Orengo has a Bachelor of Science degree in human ecology from Cornell University.

Farrell was previously vice president, distribution, Canada for SPT. His territorial responsibilities over the last three years have included oversight and growth of sales in the region. Farrell joined the SPT family in 2005 as manager of Pay TV and was based in Culver City. In 2007, he served as executive director before relocating to Toronto in 2009.

Young previously served as vice president of distribution, Australia and New Zealand for Sony Pictures Television. Prior to joining SPT, Young held positions with Zonemedia Enterprises (commercial sales director, central and eastern Europe), British Sky Broadcasting (head of account management) and Granada Sky Broadcasting (marketing executive).
